Trauma and the Brain (TBI)
Behavioral Health Professionals and TBI
Trauma and the Brain (TBI) refers to how injury to the brain can develop behaviors that relate to substance use and co-occurring conditions. Behavioral health professionals must be familiar with how the brain functions in a healthy state, but also after traumatic injury.
The courses in this category are developed to provide insight into how the brain controls behavior and how injury connects to substance use and behavior. These courses provide direct care workers with the tools to better develop empathy and better understand the brain's role in behavior, communication and what happens after a traumatic brain injury as it connects to substance use and cognitive actions.
