I'm having trouble accessing the website

The Improving MI Practices usernames are chosen by you during your initial sign-up, but the site highly recommends using your full email address as the login, and the selection of a secure password. Here are two tips related to remembering your login:

  • Usernames (usually your email address) are recommended to be all lowercase, and without spaces. So, even if your email address is generally written as Sam.Spicer@theeaton.org, your login would be sam.spicer@theeaton.org.
  • Website passwords are HIPAA-compliant, requiring at least 8 characters, including at least 1 digit(s), at least 1 lower case letter(s), at least 1 upper case letter(s), at least 1 non-alphanumeric character(s).

To reset your password, use this link: Forgot Password

Because this is a server-generated email, some spam filters might send this message in your junk mail folder. If you do not receive the password reset message in your Inbox or your spam folder after 5 minutes, you may want to contact your on-site IT support, or use our live chat system.

Because the confirmation email from the system is server-generated, some email spam blockers will incorrectly interpret the message as junk mail. If this happens, you may have to:

  • Check your spam folder
  • Contact your on-site IT or email administrator to add emails from "improvingmipractices.org" to the local whitelist
  • Contact us during live support hours using the chat tool

On rare occasions, an email program or web-based email system will mangle the confirmation link sent by the server, usually by breaking up the long link into two separate lines. In these situations, you can either:

  • Try copying and pasting the full link from the email into a web browser to manually activate it, or
  • Use the online support and allow our staff to activate you by hand

Some of the issues you may be experiencing can easily be fixed by clearing your browser cache. Click here for frequently asked questions about browser cache. The link below will go into detail on how to clear your cache on the following browsers:

I'm having trouble accessing course content

Most courses on ImprovingMIPractices allow for self-registration. There are some courses, however, that require external authorization, or that are an online component to an in-person course which must be registered and paid for through MACMHB. Sometimes, there are multiple courses covering the same basic information or with similar titles, and so it is possible that in searching for the correct course you wished to enroll in, you stumbled upon a related but different course which requires payment. When encountering an unexpected roadblock, it may be useful to double-check the information of the course you are attempting to join.

Here is a reason for course content being unable to load.

  1. You are using Internet Explorer which is no longer supported by Microsoft. We recommend you update your browser to one of the following:

If you are sure that your computer meets the above requirements but are still having trouble, feel free to use the support chat system.

I have questions on quizzes and certificates

The ImprovingMIPractices website coordinators are regularly working to submit courses for certification (MCBAP, Social Work, etc.) and most of the courses already provide some CEUs. The number of credit hours and the type of certification for each course is listed in the course description of each area.

After you log in to your account, go to the upper right-hand corner of this website and click on either the dashboard link or your profile icon to navigate to the dashboard page. Your dashboard is specifically tailored to you and keeps track of your account information, licenses, courses you're enrolled in, and your certificates.

Most of the CEU-generating quizzes on ImprovingMIPractices can be taken only twice, with the higher of the two scores counting as the qualified final score. If a student wishes for a third attempt, this may require approval of the practice area's coordinator. Use the support form to the right to initiate this process. Note that the facilitator may ask that you re-review the module itself in order to better familiarize yourself with the material before reopening the quiz.

There are a couple of courses in Improving MI Practices which have essay questions, and therefore cannot be automatically graded the way a multiple choice quiz can be. It is possible that the practice area facilitator for a particular course may not be able to get to grading your exam within the 2-3 business days we strive for.

If it has been more than a week since you've taken an essay-based course and have still not received a grade, please use the form to the right to contact our staff, and we will attempt to expedite the process on your behalf.

Peer CEU Recertification

Attention:  Although many courses on IMP offer trainings that may be applicable for MDHHS Certified Peer Support Specialists and Certified Peer Recovery Coaches as part of the audience, unless a course specifically states Peer CEs are approved for a given course, be advised the CEs available may not be approved for Peer recertification. If you have any questions on whether a training would be approved, please submit your form for consideration on the mipeers.org website under the CE information tab.

WCAG accessibility

Accessibility in the context of disability is using universal design to create programs, services, and activities which can be utilized by all individuals, regardless of disability. To access is to enter into, participate in, and engage with the IMP experience.

IMP is committed to providing accessible digital materials for persons with disabilities.

The IMP Policy defines the accessibility requirements for the State of Michigan websites and web-delivered content. The current Technical Guidelines require that pages meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at Conformance Level AA.

Content that IMP has created that is not fully accessible to individuals with disabilities can be reported to the Digital Content & Accessibility team through the inaccessible digital content report form. IMP policy prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities with respect to the benefits of and access to programs, services, and activities. Any person who believes he or she has been improperly denied the benefit of, or access to a program, service, or activity may submit a grievance. Complaint forms are available from the Office of the ADA Coordinator for Grievances. Please note that a decision by the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities may be appealed to the Deputy ADA Coordinator for Grievances.

For a better accessible PDF experience, please download the PDF and use your assistive devices. Certificates do not apply to the accessibility standards.
