This course provides an introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Children and Adolescents. Viewers will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of this evidence-based practice. This training counts for 2 hours of the 24 hours of annual training required by the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) for Children's Mental Health Professionals (CMHP). This would be appropriate for CMHP, QMHP.

Defining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

This course has been designed to provide the participants with a working understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy supported by examples of evidence-based, best practices for implementing CBT with children and adolescents. 

What are the Methods of Learning?

The course experts will cover the methods of learning within the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework. These methods of learning are specific to children and adolescents. 

How is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) used in treatment?

Participants of this course will develop a thorough understanding of implementing cognitive behavioral therapy as a treatment tool. Participants will understand how CBT fits into larger treatment plans.

Dr. Butkus is an Assistant Professor/faculty member Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences for 15 years; staff member Children's Hospital of Michigan, Department of Psychiatry and Psychology; practicing clinician with adults and youth for over 30 years; 17 years experience working with hospitalized children and adults; clinical specialty area: Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT); CBT clinical supervisor for 12 years.
