This training has been updated to reflect the 2011 HIPAA regulation. This HIPAA compliance training may reference general policies and procedures. Your employer can and should have policies and procedures that are tailored to its particular functions. You should become familiar with those mandates that are exclusive to your institution. The vast majority of this training is applicable to anyone subject to HIPAA compliance. This course will be updated in the near future to address current accessibility standards. You may choose the HIPAA course that best suits your needs and job duties. HIPAA Comprehensive is recommended for members of the workforce who are directly responsible for overseeing HIPAA compliance within their organizations, for example, HIPAA officers, Corporate Compliance officers, and members of Quality Assurance departments.

This course has been designed to provide the participants with updated information regarding HIPAA compliance. This course will provide best practices for working within HIPAA regulations. This course may also reference general HIPAA policies and procedures. 

The HHS HIPPA/ HITECH Omnibus Ruling. 

This course does provide information on the 2013 HHS HIPAA/HITECH Omnibus ruling. Participants can find this information in the Course Materials section once they enroll in the course. 

You as an employer or as a supervisor for a covered entity should establish and maintain policies and procedures that are tailored to its particular functions to ensure HIPAA compliance.

Director of HIPAA Compliance for the County of Wayne

Kevin M. Kelly is the Director of HIPAA Compliance for the County of Wayne. He has worked for Wayne County since September of 2007. Mr. Kelly is an attorney who was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1986. He received his law degree from Wayne State University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Mr. Kelly previously practiced law in a small general practice firm, and subsequently acted as chief financial officer of a closely-held corporation.
