Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Recovery Incentives: Contingency Management Core Curriculum Session 2 (May - 13th, 10am-12pm)
This course is designed for healthcare professionals, program administrators, and substance use disorder (SUD) staff interested in deepening their understanding of the RI Pilot Program as they plan to launch services at their clinic. Participants will learn about the Seven Core Principles of Contingency Management. Participants will learn about the criteria for beneficiary eligibility, clarifying who qualifies for participation and the referral processes involved. The course will clarify the roles and responsibilities of providers within the program, ensuring attendees understand their expectations and how to effectively support beneficiaries. The course will discuss creating protocols for office workflow, urine drug testing (UDT), managing positive UDT results, extended absences, and readmissions to the program.
- Seven Core Principles of CM: This session will review the Core Principles of CM in depth.
- Beneficiary Eligibility: This session defines the criteria for beneficiaries to participate in the RI Pilot.
- Provider Roles & Responsibilities: The objective of this is to clarify provider site staffing expectations for the RI Pilot.
- Incentive Structure: This session explains how incentives are calculated, distributed, and managed within the RI Pilot through the Incentive Manager Platform.
- Establishing Protocols: This session describes protocols scenarios and potential solutions for office workflow, urine drug testing (UDT), managing positive UDT results, extended absences, and readmissions to the program.

Stephanie Lagalo
Senior Trainer and Technical Assistance Specialist
Stephanie Lagalo is a Senior Trainer and Technical Assistance Specialist at Altarum. Stephanie has over 22 years of professional experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders (COD). She is a subject matter expert in COD, with an emphasis on severe and persistent mental health conditions. Stephanie has expertise in the implementation and fidelity of evidence-based practices. These include Assertive Community Treatment, Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Mathew Roosa
LCSW-R (he/him), CM Trainer and Coach
Mathew Roosa, LCSW-R, is a consultant specializing in training, coaching, and planning support for universities, research studies, and health and human service organizations. His expertise in quality improvement and evidence-based practices is complemented by his background in psychotherapy for mental health and substance use. Mr. Roosa has taught Human Services and Social Work at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has experience in agency administration and governmental planning. Additionally, he has provided training and technical assistance for incentive programs in several states, including statewide rollouts in Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Diana Williams
MSW, LCSW (she/her), Project Manager – Senior Advisor
Ms. Williams brings over 35 years of experience in behavioral health, serving as an administrator for major State programs and as a counselor for adults and adolescents with mental health and substance use disorders. Currently, she is the Senior Subject Matter Expert for Behavioral Health at Altarum, where she has worked for the past 14 years. In her role, she oversees all technical assistance and training related to recovery and treatment for substance use disorders and mental health.
