These training materials were created for the Autism Center of Excellence at Western Michigan University. This course has been designed to communicate an additional tool for assessing those clients with severe disabilities. This course focuses on those clients that have severe responses to outside stimulus, be it noise, lights, or other environmental factors. This course is presented by Dr. DeLeon to assist in the continued changing of behavior using proper assessment and treatment planning.

Stimulus Preference Assessment Procedures

This course provides the participants with information regarding Stimulus Preference and assessing clients with Autism. This course provides information on the specific techniques for assessing stimulus preference with clients in order to determine what outside factors may increase the likelihood of problem behavior. 

Reinforcer Assessment and the RAISD

Participants of this course will develop an understanding of reinforcer assessment with their clients. In order to help these participants, an additional resource has been made available referred to the RAISD. 

Dr. Iser (Willie) DeLeon

Dr. Iser (Willie) DeLeon received his B.A and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida, with a brief detour in between for a master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He is an associate professor of psychology at the University of Florida. Dr. DeLeon further serves the behavior analytic community through membership on the Board of Directors of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board and the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, as well as the editorial boards of The Behavior Analyst, the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, which he also served as associate editor. His research has focused on assessment and treatment of behavior problems in persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, determinants of choice and preference in this population and translation of basic behavioral processes towards enhancing behavioral intervention.
