This course is for anyone who writes plans of service, regardless of the field of work or the type of plan you are developing, this course focuses on Developing Person-Centered, Strength-Based and Recovery-Oriented Individualized Plans of Service and aligns the plan’s deliverables to creating the best outcomes for recovery. These seven short modules are packed full of multiple types of scenarios to help you practice facilitation skills needed for the collaborative process of writing the plan with the person receiving services.

  • How to develop a recovery-oriented goal with the person in your care.
  • Wording medical necessity and interventions into a plan that enhances recovery and considers where a person is in their stages of change.
  • How can an objective be written to achieve “matching” to readiness.
  • Examples of dialog to help develop your facilitation skills.

  • Understand the building blocks of a plan.
  • Develop person-centered plans in collaboration with the person in your care
  • Practice strength-based facilitation skills used in the process of developing an IPOS or other plan.
  • Develop facilitation skills that identify a Recovery-Oriented goal.
  • Understand what Medical Necessity is and how those relate to developing a plan.
  • Develop skills to write interventions that demonstrate the assistive strategies for helping the person in your care to complete the objective.
  • Develop objectives for the person in your care based upon the person's level of readiness to participate in activities for achieving the goal.
  • Develop skills to write the sufficiency standards of the supports and services to be provided in the intervention.

Mark Lowis

Mark Lowis got his start in law enforcement, then traversing Veterans Counseling, Substance Use Disorder Treatment, Adolescent Treatment, Parole Sexual Offenders, Developmental Disabilities, Adult and Children’s Mental Health, and National Trainer for Evidence Based Practices. He has occupied almost every role in human services from benefits case manager to COO of a National Managed Care agency. He is a trained facilitator and has hosted hundreds of sessions on guiding principals for effective and collaborative dialog. He has been called upon to bridge resistance in the hardest of cases and train staff to identify stages of change in individuals to build cooperative methods for planning services.
