This training provides instruction on the core principles of person-centered planning and facilitating pre-planning and person-centered planning meetings.

The Core Principles of Person-Centered Planning

This course provides an introduction to the Person-Centered Planning methodology. This course covers the core principles of the methodology including how to provide service to those communities and individuals dealing with behavioral health and developmental disorders. 

Facilitating Planning Meetings 

This course provides the information, and evidence-based best practices for the participants of this course to utilize when setting up the pre-planning and implementation meetings with the end client. This course should prepare the participants for the initial processes of utilizing this methodology with their end clients. It is recommended that the participants also take the "Person-Centered Planning Process: Independent Facilitator" course available from ImprovingMIPractices. 

Individual Plans of Service (IPOS), or treatment plans are the result result of a specific process called Person-Centered Planning.

Michigan requires person-centered planning and the resulting individual plan of service for everyone receiving mental heatlh or substance abuse services.

This course covers the core principles requried in person-centered treatment planning.

This course enhances understanding of the processes and activities involved in PCP.

Roberta Walker, LMSW, ACSW, is the Director of Staff Development for Southwest Counseling Solutions. She has over 30 years of experience in clinical and administrative social work with people in recovery from both mental illness and substance use disorders. She has facilitated person-centered planning processes with individuals and families, and is a strong advocate for a recovery-based mental health system.
