Definition:
An official qualification, competence, or authority issued to an individual by a third party with a relevant legal or professional expertise or competence to do so. Examples of credentials include academic diplomas, academic degrees, certifications, security clearances, and so on.
In Michigan, certification/credentialing is required to work in the publicly funded SUD service field. The Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) is the entity responsible for the credential/certification process.
