Definition:

Medical Marijuana is defined as cannabis which is prescribed to alleviate symptoms of a medical condition such as cancer, epilepsy, chronic pain, and/or anxiety. For some people suffering from chronic or terminal illnesses, conventional medicines do not work, or do not work as effectively as medicinal cannabis. Medical marijuana may also be used to help with the side effects caused by other medications.

Medical marijuana differs from recreational cannabis in that it focuses on CBD content while recreational cannabis is more focused on THC content. THC is the psychoactive agent that causes people to feel high.

Several states in the US currently recognize Medical Marijuana, Michigan included. For more information regarding Michigan's Medical Marijuana Laws, click here.
