Definition:

Sequential Treatment is an approach to treating Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) in which a client must successfully address or resolve one disorder before being considered eligible for treatment for the other disorder. This approach has historically been the one most often used to exclude clients from certain types of treatment. Due to this, integrated treatment is now more widely used.
