This is an advanced course for Assertive Community Treatment practitioners. The "ACT - Advanced Elements I - Recovery and the Stress-vulnerability Model" course will provide information about Recovery and the Stress-Vulnerability model. 

Learners must complete "ACT - Basic Elements of Assertive Community Treatment" before taking ACT - Advanced Elements I. This would be appropriate for QMHP. This course does not substitute ACT 101.

Treatment Concepts with Assertive Community Treatment.

This course has been designed for behavioral health professionals to teach them the basic treatment concepts associated with Assertive Community Treatment. This course will provide the building blocks necessary for BHPs to gain an understanding of the technical treatments involved in the ACT. 

What are Coping Strategies?

The subject matter experts who developed this course will define and outline coping strategies within the ACT framework and discuss how to apply those strategies to your practice. 

Teaching Techniques within the ACT.

This course will provide evidence-based techniques on teaching within the ACT model. This includes situational examples of when teaching becomes creative and treatment adaptable to each client. 

Studies have shown that ACT is more effective than the traditional treatment for people experiencing mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder and can reduce hospitalizations by 20%.

  • Participants ’s will read and review ACT and Medicaid articles to understand treatment concepts and the importance of relationships in community practice.
  • Participants will learn that coping strategies are critical to the recovery process and how one will be successful in the community.
  • Participants will learn that there are times when teaching must be creative.
