Infants & Children (IC) Therapeutic Resistance IV
This course is Part (4) of a five (5) part series whereby Dr. Clifton Mitchell addresses the possible impasses a therapist may experience with resistant individuals. Essentially, Dr. Mitchell suggests appropriate approaches to be utilized when an individual responds; "Yes, but..." or "I don't know." The techniques and approaches are applicable to varied scenarios. This would be appropriate for NBCC, CMHP, QMHP.
Additional Language Techniques to Reduce Resistance
In part four (4) of the five (5) part course, the course expert provides additional techniques for extracting information from those resistant clients. This course provides a deeper conversation and expansion into how the questions therapists use to guide the sessions and breakthrough to those resistant clients.
Converting Open Questions to Curious Commands
This course provides specific techniques for framing questions in mores successful ways. The course expert refers to this technique as using curious commands. The course expert provides examples and best practices for changing therapist habits into more constructive and successful tactics.
Clifton Mitchell

Mitchell is an international clinical trainer and keynote speaker who has a love for teaching and over 23 years of training experience. His ideas and writings have also been published in Men's Health Today and Barron’s Financial Weekly. Dr. Mitchell is currently a professor of counseling at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he received the Teacher of the Year award in 2002.
