Improving MI Practices (IMP) is a website created to strengthen the capacity and consistency of Michigan’s public behavioral health workforce. IMP offers a comprehensive collection of free, high-quality continuing education resources designed for professionals to raise awareness and support the recovery of individuals and families facing mental illness and substance use disorders. Through new courses, updates to existing content, and redevelopment of older materials, IMP ensures that Michigan’s public health professionals stay equipped with the latest knowledge in specialty, evidence-based, best, and promising practices.

Initially conceived and planned by the late Alyson Rush, LMSW (MDHHS) and designed by John K. Addis (Addis Enterprises), IMP launched its first version in 2012 with just a handful of courses and videos. Within months, the site boasted over 1,500 members from across the state and was growing rapidly. The current version of the website has been developed by dozens of design and eLearning experts, and boasts more than 70,000 active accounts from clinical social workers to psychiatrists to nurse practitioners

The IMP team is a proudly collaborative effort between content experts and instructional designers, between public state employees and private sector leaders, and between administrators and users. IMP is committed to User Privacy, ADA/WCAG Accessibility, and DEI Practices
